Our aim is for Fiacre's Feast to be a productive, fun and neighbourly garden and all our garden projects aim to reflect these qualities. We hope to provide a broad range of ways in which people can become involved or support the garden.
Feel free to get in contact with us (details are at the very top of this page) about any of these or other project ideas that you may be interested in.
Working-Bee Wednesdays:
Work has started at Fiacre's Feast and there is a lot to get done! Work will only grow as the garden develops too! The garden site is now open every Wednesday morning from 9am-12:30pm. Anyone who is interested in or who can help are most welcome to come on board! We'd love to see you there.
Fiacre's Feast Volunteer Membership:
The entire garden is a shared community space. People who
live in Telarah and surrounding areas will be able to apply for a FREE membership. This is a community space where all members can access, learn about and share their interests in all
things self-sufficient, home-made & home grown. It is also a garden for
those who may not have alternative opportunities or resources to garden. An application form must be completed and returned. People who apply, are asked to satisfy the following
criteria: That they are prepared to be a member and contribute safely and genuinely to
the communal upkeep of the gardens and that they are prepared to abide by the garden charter and policies.
Fiacre's Garden Vine:
This is an idea that has started to take off in other communities around Australia and it’s one that Fiacre’s Feast would like to promote.
Really.....It’s all about sharing and is based on a simple concept “take what you need and leave what you don’t need”
So.....you may be growing tomatoes or might have a lemon, apple or plum tree at home and you find that you have too many. If so, you can help create a community garden vine….. Just bag some up and bring them down and we will make sure that they get shared out. In return, you might like to take some Fiacre's Feast Produce that you might like to have at home!
Operation 'Pot Drop':
Our volunteers are planting out seedlings that have been growing over the past few weeks. Once established these potted plants, will go into our garden beds and we also aim to sell some of these at the local market. You can support this project (it will be ongoing) by dropping any unwanted empty pots into us at the garden during Working Bee Wednesday sessions or leave them near the "POT DROP" sign (down the sidewalk to the left just past the main entrance to the Parish). We promise we will put them to good use!
Our 'Promoting Community' Project
This project reflects the main aims of the Fiacre's Feast garden which, are about promoting community spirit and accessing information and resources that connect people with the garden's sustainable, home-grown & home-made theme. We would love to discuss how our garden may be able to support local interests and needs. We would love to hear from businesses, groups, individuals or organisations that would like to contribute to, or be involved in our garden in some way.
